Artist’s Description of the original artwork
Title: 10,000 years
Oil paint and mixed media on canvas / Size 200×250cm / Year 2008
This was a major work for me personally. My original intention was to try and express the common Chinese phrase ‘live 10 000 years’. Also, some living Buddhas and others told me I was a ‘10,000 year Buddha.’ As with all my works to me the style is neo expressionism. This painting was in two major shows – the Stolen Treasures of Modern China in both Shanghai and Beijing editions at ShanghArt. It was displayed in the offices of Minsheng bank for a few years. To me this painting really is a piece of my soul.
