Artist’s Statement

First imagined in 2014 when electronic currencies were just beginning to challenge traditional cash. It envisions a future when hard cash fades into memory. I collected coins from around the world and transformed them into paintings as a kind of prophesy. These coins have served us well, passing through countless hands.

I hope the currencies of the future will do the same.

Artist’s Statement

I have been doing various work on paper from an early age, my first drawing was published in the Johannesburg Star when I was 10. As my life was quite transient most of my work was on paper until I had a settled studio around the mid 2000s. On my occasional visits back to the UK I would stash my output in my Aunt's attic.

FAQs - buying original art

Selling original art involves a number of complexities including but not limited to shipping, insurance, import duties and VAT. These vary significantly depending on the work and where it is going. For this reason, oil paintings are not available to purchase directly online. Works on paper can be purchased online by UK residents. All other enquiries, please contact us directly.
CP Gill has a significant body of work still in storage in China. If you are a collector based in Asia or elsewhere and would like to know what is available, please get in touch. We welcome enquiries from anywhere in the world.
Yes. All original works sold come with a certificate of authenticity, signed by CP Gill Art.
Yes. Import duties and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer and differ by country. We handle each sale individually - get in touch and we will provide full details on shipping and insurance as part of your purchase quote.
