Artist’s Description of the original artwork
Title: From Nothing
Acrylic on canvas / Size 540×780mm / Year 2006
This painting is based on a Chinese phrase how from nothing something can become big. I was inspired by the manic construction I witnessed over the years. While I lived in Shanghai population grew from about 8 million people to about 25 million. Of course, Shanghai was a small fishing town in swampy, humid marshes in the late 1800s.
