This mixed-media painting incorporates two old doors salvaged from a demolished house. It draws inspiration from the bustling crowds along the Suzhou River banks in central Shanghai where people, buildings, and the environment have adapted to communism. It evokes a blend of old life and modernity. This historically vital area, once a demarcation between foreign concessions and a hub for trade and industry, has appeared in numerous films and retains echoes of the old city amid rapid industrialization and population growth.
